Hopmon's Mansion

~:WEBSITE TIPS:~
I have some tips I can give to you for your website. Are you having trouble getting hits? Can't find what you need? This page is for you!

Getting More Hits/Members:
Yep, I had this problem. Well, to gain more hits, I'd suggest you use a host without banners or pop-ups. One little banner will probably be okay. Text links are better. People would not want to enter every page and receive a million pop-ups, unless they have pop-up blocker, but you'll never know who has it or who doesn't. So one thing that attracts guests are good websites without ads taking up the view. Another thing is the layout. Who would want to visit sites with eye-hurting layouts? I'm sure some parents would disapprove, and it does damage to your eyes. So try to make layouts with matching colors, etc. and don't use odd layouts like black and gray at the same time. So layouts matter.
Another thing is images. Don't make your website all text, and especially don't make the text humongous on every page. People want to see images, and the less broken images the better. Try to have at least one or two images on each page, unless it's some old page that people can view just in case. A good site banner can count as one image, but make sure it's interesting and matches the layout! Text links should also be fine, but it's okay if some of them aren't working when your website is under construction. No one wants to spend hours clicking every link to see if it's working or not. You might highlight the working links, or list the names of the links that're working on the main page. That way it'll be a lot easier, and people will come once in a while to see the updates.
Make sure your site does not contain Hentai if it's not under the subject. If it does, I suggest you should make a splash that warns the user, just in case if it was a little kid, etc. Or else it'll be likely that the parent, grandparent, blabla will block your website. And people want to read interesting things. Don't put down pointless stuff like "Pokemon is a TV show, and also there are games". Everyone knows that! So it's pointless. Put in interesting stuff like "How to get Deoxys:" or "Catch Mew:", or even "How to Find Missingno". That will attract someone's attention for a while. So the main thing is: MAKE YOUR WEBSITE INTERESTING and ON TOPIC.

Finding the Useful Affiliates:
Affiliates are like partner websites. Linking to another site is NOT called affiliating. They have to put your link under their affiliates list, and you have to put their link under yours. If you take off their button without them knowing, it's considered rude, because you're breaking the affiliation. If they take your button off, you should tell them and say that if they don't put it back on, you'll take their button off.
Need help finding affiliates? Well, let me tell you. Don't try to affiliate with every site you can find! And it's no use to affiliate with sites that haven't updated in years or have only one little page. If they don't get much hits, it won't be likely that you'll be getting any more hits. Some bigger sites might request you to have at least blabla hits per day, and if you can't meet that I'm sorry. So the best thing to do if your site is new is to affiliate with sites a bit older than yours or big sites that don't care how many hits you get per day. And try to affiliate with websites on the subject of your own site. Good luck affiliating!!

What to Look For--besides the things I've already told you, there are some more important things you need to know...
Looking For the Best Web Materials:

Can't find good forums? Or tagboards? Don't have a guestbook? Well, the best thing to do is try to find them on Google. Or you can look at the Resources page in Mewforina and see if that helps you. Don't pick any free thing. Some of them may contain many pop-ups and huge banners. And some might have limits, too, that are not enough for you. So before you sign up, read the "Services" page, etc., and see what they have to offer. When you find the one you like, then sign up and put it on your website. That way you'll save more time instead of trying everything, and you won't have to waste work on nothing.

Finding the Right Webhost:
Have you tried tons of webhosts and liked none of them? That's probably because you're rushing to get a website. Don't go through with every host to check out how it is. As I mentioned earlier, read the "Services" page or whatever the name is and scan through their list of offers. You should make sure of these things:
