Mewforina started out as a simple little Pokemon fansite on FreeWebs. It was TERRIBLE, and I only got 30 hits in nine months!! I only had seven pages, because at that time FreeWebs didn't offer some of the delicacies it offers now. No matter how hard I tried, my website never seemed to succeed.
A while later I found the website Mew's Hangout in a Google search. I learned about webmastery, and I got most of my resources from Mew's Hangout. I learned about how hard Mewkitty worked on her website, and I decided I should work better on mine as well. Since then, I started adding more images and art, but my website still didn't seem to see new glory. Soon after, I moved to another webhost. This webhost had so many ads I could barely stand it. I tried many more hosts after that, trying to find the perfect one. A few weeks later, I found 1ASPHost, the host I use now. They offered a lot of bandwidth, unlimited if you ask, and everything else I needed to build a perfect website that might someday be as popular as Mew's Hangout or Suta-Raito.
I started out with a plain pink table layout with three columns. The banner was just a plain pink banner with images I pasted on it, and it was a div layout. It looked terrible, nothing as close as the layout I have now. I got it from a free layout source--just changed the colors with their permission, but I never gave credit, which I still regret today. Truth was, I never knew about copyrights. I just put some © signs on the disclaimer, but it didn't seem to say anything at all. I began to lose hope.
A few more days later, I regained my website spirit after another visit to Mew's Hangout. I renamed my website from Pokemon Mansion to Mewforina, and changed the layout after a long time of no updates and hard work. Some of my few visitors thought I had completely given up, but after I changed the layout and added more content, I got more visitors. I was even in the 19th place on the Pichu's World topsites, and I got great affiliates like The Cave of Dragonflies! I felt happier, and I started working on fakes, for images seemed to be one of the main attractions. I also made Mewforina more fun with games like Skating Pikachu and a Don't Click Here page with an award. I tried to make it more interactive by adding a forum and oekaki, and I'm hoping to get a topsites someday as well.
Well, this is basically what I did to get where I am now. Do you know what really made me climb higher? I never gave up. And if you have a website, you shouldn't give up either, just because some things seem too hard! You need to work to climb the ladder to popularity, and
you must do the best you can do! ^^
