Basic Words
Pokemon (POE-KAY/KUH-MON): The creatures that this site is about.
PokeDex (POE-KUH/KAY-DEX): A red box thing you carry around that records the information of Pokemon you catch.
PokeBall (POE-KUH/KAY-BALL): A ball that you throw at a Pokemon to catch it. There are many types of PokeBalls, all with their own advantages. The red and white one is just a basic PokeBall.
Gym Leaders: These tough trainers will challenge you in different cities. When you win you get a badge and a TM.
Badges: Every badge is special. They make Pokemon obey you, and you will be permitted to use an HM.
Evolution: When a Pokemon evolves at a certain level to its next stage.
Battle Terms
TM: There are many different TMs. They can teach a certain type of Pokemon a special attack, but unlike an HM, they can only be used once.
HM: If you teach a Pokemon an attack with an HM, it will be able to use it outside of battle in certain places. You can use an HM more than once.
Pokemon Center: A Pokemon Center is a building where you can heal your Pokemon to full health and PP.
HP: The abbreviation of Hit Points. When a Pokemon's hit points reach 0, they will be unable to battle until healed at a PokeCenter or revived with an item.
Attack: A Pokemon's Physical attack--Normal and Fighting type moves.
Defense: How much power your Pokemon has against a physical attack.
Special Attack & Special Defense: The amount of power your Pokemon has for an attack that deals different amounts of damage depending on the opponent Pokemon's type. The amount of power your Pokemon has against a Special Attack.
Agility: How fast a Pokemon is.
Healing Items
Potion: Heals your Pokemon 20HP.
Antidote: Cures Poison.
Burn Heal: Cures a Burn.
Ice Heal: Defrosts a frozen Pokemon.
Paralyze Heal: Heals Paralysis.
Full Heal: Heals any status problem.
Awakening: Awakens
your sleeping Pokemon.
Full Restore: Restores all HP and cures status problems.
Ether: Restores PP of one move 10 PP.
Revive: Revives a fainted Pokemon to 1/2 of its HP.
Max Elixir: Restores all PP of a Pokemon.
Max Revive: Revives a Pokemon with all of its HP.
Elixir: Restores all moves to 10 PP.
Max Ether: Restores one move to maximum PP.
Fresh Water: Quenches thirst and restores some HP.
Soda Pop: Quenches thirst and restores more HP than Fresh Water.
Lemonade: Quenches thirst and restores more HP than Soda Pop.
Powerups
Rare Candy:Increases a Pokemon's level by 1.
HP Up: Upgrades a Pokemon's HP.
PP Up: Increases a Pokemon's PP.
Protein: Increases Attack status.
Iron: Increases Defense status.
Carbos: Increases Speed status.
Calcium: Increases Special Attack.
X Attack: Increases Attack in battle.
X Defense: Increases Defense in battle.
X Speed: Increases Speed in battle.
X Special: Increases Special status in battle.
Guard Spec.: Guards against Foe's Special moves in battle.
Dire Hit: Increases the chance of a critical hit in battle.
Stones/Fossils
Fire Stone: Evolves certain Fire types like Vulpix and Growlithe.
Water Stone: Evolves certain Water Pokemon like Staryu.
Leaf Stone: Evolves certain Grass Pokemon.
Thunder Stone: Evolves certain Eletric Pokemon like Pikachu.
Moon Stone: Evolves Pokemon like Clefairy.
Sun Stone: Evolves certain Pokemon.
Helix Fossil: Used to revive Omanyte.
Dome Fossil: Used to revive Kabuto.
Old Amber: Revives ancient Aerodactyl.
Special Items
Bike Voucher: Trade it for a free bicycle in Cerulean City. Can be obtained in Vermillion.
Bicycle: It goes a lot faster than Running Shoes!
Town Map: Use it to locate areas.
Gold Teeth: An old man lost it in the Safari Zone in Fuschia City.
S.S. Ticket: Use it to board the S.S. Anne.
PokeDoll: Distracts a wild Pokemon so you can Run away.
Silph Scope: Identifies Ghost Pokemon.
PokeFlute: Awakens Sleeping Pokemon. You won't need Awakening now!
Old Rod: Used for fishing. It catches weak Pokemon, mainly Magicarp.
Super Rod: Used for fishing. Catches the best Pokemon.
Good Rod: Better than an Old Rod but not as good as a Super Rod.
Itemfinder: May locate hidden items unseeable.
Experience Share: Equip a Pokemon with it and it'll earn half of Exp. without going in battle.
Coins: Use them to play the slot machines in the Game Corner!
Coin Case: Carry all your coins in this case!
Tea: Give this to the workmen on the Routes and they'll let you go through.
Repel: Repels wild Pokemon for 100 steps.
Max Repel: Repels wild Pokemon for 200 steps.
