Word from Principal

K.J.Somaiya College has emerged as an "A" grade institution as per the norms of quality excellence laid down by NAAC. To meet the challenges of the changing times the college tries to equip the students with advanced knowledge and skills. The college has started new courses such as B.Sc.I.T. & Biotechnology in the academic years, 2001-2002 & 2002-2003 respectively. In the commerce stream, BCAF is started in the year 2003-2004.

Besides responding to the needs of modern Science & Technology our college also tries to expose the students to the values of our culture. There are several curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The college is striving hard to develop the overall personality of our students and thus try to achieve the motto of the College – knowledge leads to sublimity.

The students strength of the Degree College for the year 2002-2003 is 2216 and that of the Junior College is 1888. The college has one of the largest intake capacity of post graduate students in different subjects in the University of Mumbai.

There are 86 lecturers in Degree College teaching various subjects and 101 non-teaching staff members (Clerical 30 Laboratory 71). In addition to it there are 56 teachers in Junior College. With the encouragement from the management and co-operation of all these staff-members, I am sure the college will achieve greater heights.
