SPW: June 1997 (excerpted)
As a young girl in ballet class, Fiona Hutchison (Jenna, GL) often wondered when she would ever use her training if she didn't eventually become a professional ballet dancer. Her dream came true, until an injury ended her career early. However she recently discovered how useful her experience could be. "I was co-hosting Fox After Breakfast and Jean Claude Van Damme was one of our guests," she says. "They asked me -- with my ballet background -- if I could still stretch. I said. 'Absolutely!' So we opened the show with my leg up around my ears in a balletic stretch. Here I was interviewing Van Damme, and because I could put my leg up around my head, this impressed him tremendously and we had something to talk about, which in turn pleased the producers because it made for good television. So there you go; you'll never know when your lessons are going to come in handy."
Rise And Shine (Early), Fiona
When Fiona Hutchison (Jenna) co-hosted a black tie benefit for the Starlight Foundation in New York earlier this spring, she caught the eye of her fellow host Tom Bergeron, who just happens to be the host and co-executive producer of the new morning show Fox After Breakfast. The pair hit it off, and soon afterward, Bergeron showed up on the set of Guiding Light to observe Hutchison's work -- and make her an offer. "he came to the the set and officially asked me to be a guest co-host on the show," says the actress, who, naturally, accepted. She was on the show for a week in April, interviewing such guests like Jean-Claude Van Damme, Rip Torn and Janeane Garafalo. The show also took viewers on a backstage tour of GL, interviewing Kim Zimmer (Reva), Cynthia Watros (Annie), Rebecca Budig (Michelle) among others. Hutchison was such a hit with After Breakfast viewers that there's talk that she may return. "I would certainly do it if the GL schedule permits," she says. "I absolutely loved it! It was marvelous." And yes, baby Hutch was with her every minute. The two are inseparable -- until they yell "Action!". |
