One Life To Live:
Bingham Inn: Care To Dance (2/90)

"The Bingham Inn Scenes:  Care to Dance...?"
Audio and Video located at Multi-Media

Scene I: The Bingham Inn

Max: (checking out the victrola then moves toward the bathroom and knocks on the door)  Gabrielle, come out, warm yourself by the fire...

Gabrielle:  (comes out in a long white old fashioned nightgown)  A fire is nice, but I don't need need it to keep me warm, all I need is you...

Max:  (back on his heels, hands in pockets, dumbstruck)

Gabrielle: You don't like it....

Max:   No, I don't like it....

Gabrielle:  I thought it would be too old fashioned for you...

Max:   I don't like it, I'm crazy about it...

Gabrielle:  Are you?

Max:  (moves toward her, hands behind his back)  Even crazier about what's in it

Gabrielle:  (playfully)  Mr. Holden, are you trying to take advantage of me?

Max:  (moving even closer)  Oh no Ms Medina, you had me at the disadvantage the moment you put on that gown.  My knees started shaking, tongue got all tied, you had me feeling like a schoolboy.

Gabrielle:  (leans into him, on tip toes)  Funny.... (moves her arm up his chest)  you don't look like a schoolboy. (pulls him into a kiss)

Max:  (takes arms from behind his back and gently takes her arms from around his neck)  Hmmm,  hold that thought.... (still holding her hand)  You like instrumental or vocal?

Gabrielle:  You choose...

Max:  (flips through records, pulls one out, spins it)  This one was really hot in the old days (moves to victrola and begins cranking)

Gabrielle:  This is so much more fun than our fancy CD players.

Max:  We make music the old fashioned way...we crank it....

Gabrielle:  (Instrumental of You Made Me Love You begins)  Oh, this is nice...

Max:  (takes her hand and leads her back to the center of the room)  Now in the old days, the men and the women would stand at the opposite side of the room waiting to dance (releases her and stands by fireplace)  The men, too nervous to ask the ladies, the women did not ask because it was improper.

Gabrielle:  There must have been one man brave enough, and one woman improper enough.

Max: (nods toward the victrola)  Only when you made them do it....

Gabrielle:  (walks toward him)  Hello handsome...

Max:  (moves toward her)  Hello, gorgeous... Would you care to dance?

Gabrielle:  With You?  I would care too very much. (Max takes her in his arms; she sighs, leaning into his neck)  Oh, Max...

Max:  (entwined, dancing slowly)  Shhhhh, no talking... just you, me, and the music....

Scene II:   A slow instrumental playing, with Max and Gabrielle moving slowly in each other's arms....

Gabrielle:  I thought this was dancing music.

Max:   We're dancing aren't we?

Gabrielle:  Uh, hmmmm.  If we were still in school, I think the principle would come between us with a ruler.

Max:  Hmmm, I remember those days, I like this much more.

Gabrielle:  You sure you don't want something a little faster?

Max:  Uh, hmmmn.  It's just the way I like it.  Smooth and soft, so I can take in every part of you. (holds her even tighter, breathes her in)  Hmmm, starting with your scent (kiss)

Gabrielle:  I'm not wearing any perfume.

Max:  That doesn't matter.  You have your own natural fragrance, don't you know?

Gabrielle:  (laughing)  Oh, come on

Max:  You do.  Hmmm,  you smell like tropical flowers, an orchid...deep and exotic.  When I breath you in it's like breathing in a whole garden.

Gabrielle:  (looks up smiling)  No bumblebees I hope?

Max:   (looks down)  Hmmm, only honey.

Gabrielle:  Tell me more.

Max:  Your hair...

Gabrielle:  It's far too long, I was going to cut it...

Max:  Don't you dare. (breathy)  The way it catches the light... the way it feels against my face...

Gabrielle:  (sighing) Forget what I said about cutting it...

Max:   There's more (kiss) Much more... there's  your neck (trails his finger down her throat) so smooth and sooo soft.

Gabrielle: (breathlessly) You're giving me goose bumps....

Max:  (chuckling) I'm glad.  Cause, I love the way you respond when I touch you...your skin, your heartbeat, your breathing (heavy breathing now), the way you melt when I hold you in my arms... I can feel everything (gasping shudder) from your shoulders right down to the small in your back...

Gabrielle:  This is torture you know... exquisite torture..

Max:  (stops and stares into her eyes)  You want me to stop?

Gabrielle:  (stares back) Don't you dare....

Max:   It's more than just the way you feel, it's the way you look too... as young, as  innocent, as desirable,  as that night in Argentina.

Gabrielle:  That was a whole other lifetime.

Max:   It only seems that way.  This is our life Gabrielle.  We've been preparing for it all these years.  Any regrets?

Gabrielle: (shakes her head) Not anymore.

Max:  I want to relive that night, now. (lifts her up)  I want to make love to you, now (carries her to the bed).

Scene III: Lightening flashes outside window...scan to bed, Max and Gabrielle entwined, speaking softly, almost whispering

Gabrielle:  What's wrong?

Max:  I'm trembling

Gabrielle:  So am I....  What?

Max:  You.  You are sooo beautiful...

Gabrielle: (touches his face, cradling his cheek)   So are you.

Max:  (traces his finger along her jaw)  I just want to savor every moment.... every touch.... (leans in) every kiss  (they kiss...deeply, he pulls away and stares) God, I just want to look at you (traces his finger over her face again).

Gabrielle: (laughing as they clasp hands and entwine fingers)  I know.  It's like it's the first time I've ever seen you.

Max:   It is the first time... the first night...the first touch...(smiling) the first kiss  (kisses her).... (breathlessly) the first time we made love (still kissing)  Nothing else ever existed, and after tonight we will never be apart. (kissing, music gets louder....still kissing....thunder and lighting... still kissing....fade to black...)
