TV Guide:TEA
AND FI
Is
Fiona Hutchison (ex-Gabrielle, OLTL) coming
back to soaps? "There has been some interest from the daytime arena, and
I feel very wonderful about that," she tells
TV Guide Online exclusively.
"I would adore to create a brand-new character and show the daytime viewers
a side of me they haven't seen yet." Hutchison has been keeping herself
busy with the stage. She's a founding member of the Copake
Theatre Company, a not-for-profit theater
she runs with her husband, John Viscardi
(ex-Tony,
OLTL). "We started it in January in Copake, N.Y., inside their 103-year-old
grange hall," she says. "We've gotten lights and drapes that were donated,
but every time we produce a show, we have to rent a lighting and sound
board. We're hoping to purchase one of our own." To accomplish her goal,
Hutchison will host "Tea with Fi and Friends"
on Aug. 22 in New York City.
The
location is hush-hush, but the actress promises, "It will be a sophisticated
event, up close and personal." Tapping into her English background, Hutchison
has planned a very proper morning. "It will be a full English tea with
strawberry jam and scones and more than 400 teas to choose from," she reveals.
"Beth Ehlers(Harley,
GL) has given me a confirmation she'll be there, as well as some other
special guests." The aromatic experience won't end after the festivities
are over. Hutchison is about to headline a brand of teas. "I've signed
with Harney & Sons to create my own line," she reveals. "We're doing
a flavor called vanilla rum. It's never been done before."

Fiona Hutchison
is holding two fundraisers for the Copake
Theatre Company, a not for profit company,
located in Copake, NY (about 2 hours north of New York City) that she and
husband John Viscard formed in December 2003. Information below is provided
by Diane,
assistant to Fiona at the Copake Theater Company. To reserve a ticket
to either function you can call the Copake
Theater Company at (518)
329-2506 or email Diane
and she can provide further information.
The first
fundraiser is on Saturday July 31st, 2004
at the Taconic Hills Performing Arts Center
in Craryville, NY at 7: 30pm
(about 10 minutes from Copake). Broadway performer William Michals
( the Beast in Beauty & the Beast and he also appeared in Phantom,
Les Mis and Chicago). Tickets are $15 for general admission and $12 for
seniors, students and veterans.
The second
fundraiser is one that Fiona is really excited about. It's called Tea
With Fi & Her Friends. Fiona is going
to host a tea with some of her closest friends from daytime televison on
Sunday
August 22nd, 2004,
in New York City from 4pm--7pm.
Fiona and her friends will intermingle with the fans and they will get
a chance to chat with Fiona and see what she has been up to since leaving
OLTL.
There is going to be a full english tea with all of the trimmings and a
choice of over 450 teas. There will be items from OLTL and
other shows for fans to bid on and it's just going to be a really fun afternoon.
Tickets are $100 (money orders only) and 75% of the ticket cost is tax
deductible because the Copake Theatre Company is a not-for profit company.
Seating is
very limited so it's a first come first serve basis only. If they
get a good response they are always willing to do another one in the fall.

Paper
Mill Playhouse announced the cast of its production of Oscar Wilde's
An
Ideal Husband. Stephanie Beacham, George S. Irving, Fiona Hutchison,
Daniel McDonald and David Ledingham will all be featured in the play which
is scheduled to run at Paper Mill February 14 through March 18.
An Ideal Husband is one of Wilde’s
best-known works. The play centers on Sir Robert Chiltern, a distinguished
member of the House of Commons, whose perfect life is threatened by a blackmailer.
Wilde uses the material to explore morality and social hypocrisy among
the elite. The play was last seen on Broadway in 1997 when it closed after
309 performances at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.
Hutchisonis
making her Paper Mill debut in the role of Lady Chiltern. She is one of
the soap world’s most loved divas, having starred in As The World Turns,
The Guiding Light and One Life To Live. (from Broadway.com) Jan
1, 2001.

Beloved soap veteran
Fiona
Hutchison (ex-Jenna, Guiding Light; ex-Gabrielle,OLTL)
is joining the cast of As The World Turns as Celia,
Simon's sister; her first airdate is June
5. "I'm thrilled that [the producers]
asked me to play Celia," Hutchison said in a statement. "She's a bitchy,
manipulative, opportunistic enigma of sorts, and you know me and villainous
characters — I think they are a real gas to play. I am so looking forward
to working with Paul Leyden and Martha Byrne (Simon and Lily/Rose); they
are both tremendous actors." FYI, Hutchison beat out a prime-time soap
veteran for the short-term role.

Fiona Hutchisonwill
be teaching Understanding Daytime Drama - Advanced (Wed 7-10)
at the The
School for Film and Television
for the January 2000 semester. The following is a course description
provided by the school.
Understanding
daytime is a eight-week workshop taught by Fiona Hutchison, one of the
leading performers in daytime today. Having created the popular character
of Gabrielle Medina on ABC's "One Life To Live" and Emmy nominated for
the role of Jenna Bradshaw on CBS's "Guiding Light", Fiona brings over
12 years of daytime experience into the classroom. Under her professional
direction, students will rehearse and perform actual scenes from
the daytime medium on camera. Students will gain a direct understanding
of exactly what it takes to perform in daytime and gain invaluable
experience as Ms. Hutchison gives both acting and technical direction.
In addition, students will learn about aspects of their professional careers
from headshots and resumes to the audition process and will be taken behind
the scenes of the most watched daytime show currently on the air. This
is a rare opportunity to work with one of the foremost performers in daytime.
