FIONA HUTCHISON
(ex-Gabrielle, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, ex-Jenna, GUIDING LIGHT)
She's
just finished up a play written by her husband John Viscardi (ex-
Fr. Tony, ONE LIFE), she's hosting a new show on the Romance Classics
Network, auditioning for soap roles, juggling motherhood and taking 10
month-old-son Trevor Viscardi to his job at GUIDING LIGHT (he plays Rocky
Cooper) a couple of days a week. The schedule would exhaust most people,
but most people aren't as energetic as Fiona Hutchison.
We caught up to the popular Hutchison recently, and it wasn't easy.
"How
do I juggle everything?" she laughed, savoring the question. "It has
been a bit of a juggling act. And it's been crazy. But I love that.
I
thrive on being busy. And as wacky as the schedule is, it's really
no
more crazy than anyone's schedule. Just a different kind of crazy."
She still has time to whip out photos of her two handsome sons and hunky
husband. "Family is so important to me," Hutchison says, matter-of-fact.
And she puts them first even as her career heats up again. [A few
minutes on the phone were interrupted several times for feedings.]
Hutchison left GUIDING LIGHT last year when the powers-that-be told
her they couldn't come with any story ideas for the character of Jenna--at
best a curious fact in that Hutchison received an Emmy nomination for
playing the role. "I never really did understand what went on," she
says
now, "I may never know. They said 'We can't think of anything for you
to
do.'" (This from writers who came up with a clone storyline??)
At the moment, Hutchison is really too busy to care. She has just
announced plans to teach a seminar/acting workshop on "Understanding
the Daytime Medium" at the School for Film and Television in New York City
[classes begin in August and will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday for
four weeks; call 212-645-0030 for more information/reservations.] Hutchison's
voice over work is also going gang-busters. And the documentary series
on the royals is also right up her alley. "This is a great job, and on
top of that," she enthuses, "I'm learning so much."
And loving life so much, too. While Hutchison was talking to SOAP STAR
WORLD, her son Trevor took his first steps! Does this child of two actors
know how to steal the spotlight, or what? (John missed the happy moment
being at a rehearsal.) "Oh my God! Trevor just walked four steps! [To Trevor]
That's so fantastic, Trevor!" She returns back to the conversation and
laughs, "He's walking now. My life will never be the
same!"
