FIONA FEST

Biography & Credits

Fiona Hutchison born to British parents (British, Irish & Welsh descent) in Miami Florida on May 17 (on route to Jamaica),  maintains dual citizenship.   Her father was a Dr., her mother an artist.  She has two brothers, 15 and 16 years older.

Fiona began ballet lessons at age 4 in Jamaica.  Her family traveled frequently, and she also attended school briefly in Italy,  England and South Africa.  Her family moved again to South Carolina, where the 10-year-old Fiona joined the Columbia City Ballet.  By 13, she won a two-year scholarship to England's Royal Ballet, and at the age of 15 she moved by herself to attend the School of American Ballet in New York City, where she trained with Natalia Makarova and Baryshnikov and performed with the American Ballet Theatre.

At the age of 18, while rehearsing for the ballet 'Giselle' at The Miami Conservatory, Fiona severely injured the lower portion of her spine, thus ending her illustrious career as a prima ballerina.  Paralyzed for 6 weeks, the doctors were fearful of her even walking again but she prevailed after two years of therapy.  A decade later, she made a triumphant return to ballet as a guest performer with the Columbia City Ballet.

Meanwhile, Fiona turned her attentions to acting where she has made her mark on stage and screen.   A nomination for an Outstanding Lead Actress Daytime EMMY for her role of Jenna Bradshaw on Guiding Light, and an L.A. Theater Critics Dramalogue Award for Best Actress for 3 More Sleepless Nights, top her honors.

Currently, Fiona can be seen hosting the documentary series Royal Families of the World, and as of March 27, 2000 can be seen weekdays in Tea with Fi, a series she helped develop for the American Movie Classics Network that will air on their sister station the Romance Classics Network.   She has also signed a contract to do a show Vows about weddings.

Fiona also heads the Daytime Division at NYC's School of Film and Television, and teaches the Understanding Daytime Drama - Advanced Class.

She is also the co-founder and producer of The Essential Theater ...Blah ...Blah ...Blah... with her husband actor/writer John Viscardi (ex-Fr. Tony Vallone -OLTL).  They have two children John "Hutch" Viscardi (born Sept 3, 1996) and Trevor Viscardi (Rocky Cooper-GL) (born May 3, 1998).

Fiona's considerable hobbies/interests include painting, fast cars, horseback riding, scuba diving, and hiking (Fiona and John wed after hiking down the Grand Canyon, Sept 16, 1994)
