Just before shooting a scene in which Fiona Hutchison (JENNA) shared her first kiss with Justin Deas (BUZZ), Fiona lavished praise on her latest co-star. "He's totally spontaneous -- he's like a tingle! That's the only word I can think of," she says. Fiona admits she's enjoying her current triangle with Buzz and ROGER (Michael Zaslow). "They're very different. Michael is very professional, and I've known him a long time. We have alot of fun. It's always a warm loving feeling when I do a scene with him. Buzz, we don't know the depths of him yet. On the surface he treats everything comedically." Did they have to rehearse their first kiss? Fiona smiled, "Kissing doesn't need rehearsal. I have a feeling her knows how to kiss!"
GL's Justin Deas
"Justin is very much a man, not a boy, not a gentleman, but he's a man. What I mean by that is what you see is what you get. There's no pretense, he's extremely down to earth and he has tremendous sex appeal. He doesn't mince words. He's extremely knowledgeable on a huge variety of subjects and I find him intriguing to talk with. And he's a powerhouse of energy."
Mystery Man
Working with Justin Deas is a tremendous experience. This man can pull so much from a small bit of dialogue. He's often unpredictable and spontaneous, which of course only adds to his overall talent. I really enjoy his sense of humor! My favorite scenes with Justin are always involving comedy. Something I've always found quite endearing in an actor or actress is a natural sense of what's funny. Justin Deas certainly understands the true mechanism of great comedy. He comes to the set with a perspective that allows the creative aspects of our work to be so much more productive.
Fiona Hutchison (Jenna Bradshaw)
There are two favorite memories that pop out. The first was working with Justin Deas (Buzz) in a scene where we were having a candlelight dinner. He brought over a live chicken that I think he was supposedly going to cook to show his undivided love for her. The hysterical moments I remember were Justin Deas trying to cope with this live chicken on the set--we were in such hysterics for weeks after that. There isn't much that Justin can't handle, but I think that got him that day. The other time was with Michael Zaslow (Roger). We had a bathtub scene to do together and we were in this tub for quite a long time. They gave me these pasty things for my breasts, which kept falling off. He protected me and was such a gentleman.
GL's Justin Deas
For his showing stopping performance as a decent man stuggling to find happiness, SOAP OPERA MAGAZINE names Justin Deas Star of the Week. Careening off his nasty split with Reva, Buzz turned his focus to wooing Jenna. Although he knows she is married to Jeffrey, perhaps his recent experience as doormat to Reva has strengthened his resolve to get what he wants -- no matter the cost. In his scenes with Fiona Hutchison (Jenna), Justin constantly proves that Buzz is an affectionate, desirable man, and not merely Reva's sloppy seconds. Fiona expresses her own affection for Justin and reveals that he is every bit as decent as the character he plays "I adore him," raves Fiona. "he's a good man and I really do enjoy working with him. He throws you curves and that's exactly why it's fun, because it's not by rote. You go in there and you never know what's going to happen next. He's always blaming me for doing the same to him, that I give him lines and he has no idea where they came from. So I say, 'Well it takes two to tango!'"
Fiona Hutchison (Jenna)
My last day when Buzz sees me in the airport and runs after me and doesn't get ahold of me. But I remember Justin Deas (Buzz) saying to me, "It's been really great working with you. And even though I didn't catch you this time around, I'll get you next time." I have alot of fond memories working with Justin.
The Buzz on Justin
Fans of Justin Deas (Buzz) are well aware of the
actor's legendary publicity-shyness. Well, if it were up to co-star
Fiona Hutchison (Jenna), Deas would be out there doing interviews and having
his say. "I tell Justin all the time that he's sitting in a dangerous
position," Hutchison explains. "I say, 'By you choosing not to do
an interview, you have no say over what I [might] say about you.
I can tell them you're wonderful--or I can tell them you're difficult to
work with and I can't stand it another day.'" Either way, she notes,
"I have total control." While so far Hutchison's warnings haven't
seemed to work, we hope she'll keep trying. Meanwhile, Fiona, don't
keep us in suspense. What is Deas like? "Truth be told, he's
alot of fun to work with.
