Finally, it’s true. Rumors fly every year or so that Fiona Hutchison is on the verge of returning to ABC’s One Life To Live, where -- from 1987 to ‘91 -- she stole the show as Gabrielle Median, baby switcher, priest seducer and Machiavellian nutcase. And those rumors haven’t been that off-base. “I’ve had lunch to discuss coming bcak as Gabrielle with every producer who’s run the show since I left,” Hutchison notes. “I’ve eaten very well on ABC.” But only Gary Tomlin, who took over OLTL in January, actually struck a deal. “The minute I got this job, I made a call to get Fiona back,” says Tomlin, who will have the fan favorite on the air by May [11]. “She’s the kind of actress who makes you watch, and that’s what the show needs.“ Tomlin was a OLTL director during Hutchison’s heydey. “He
knows Gabrielle’s colors and where her skeleton’s are buried, and that’s
the kind of producer I want to work with, “she says. “Gabrielle taps
into dark places and was quite difficult for me to live with. I hope
I can do it more comfortablythis time, though I don’t know if that can
be done. Six months into this, I might need therapy.”
