Fiona Hutchison and John Viscardi found Nantucket to be all wet

Aromantic weekend in picturesque New England may sound likeheaven, but for Guiding Light’s Fiona Hucthsion (Jenna) it was a chance to add another tale to her growing list of slapstick, on location adventures. Recently, Hutchison and. her steady beau, John Viscardi (ex-Tony Vallone, One Lffe to Live), traveled to the island of Nantucket, 30 miles off the coast of Cape Cod, Mass., to film a segment of the syndicated series Runauwy Witb the Rich & Famous, hosted by Robin Leach. Hutchison says the shoot went nicely, until, Mother Nature took matters into her own hands. One of the last scenes involved Hutchison and Viscardi rowing, in a white-hulled scull in the Atlantic Ocean. "John was supposed to be whisking me - or should I say rowing me - off my feet, when all of a sudden a thunderstorm blew in," Hutchison recalls. The storm made trying to turn the boat back toward the beach quite a feat. "Sculls are narrow, so turning with the wind and the waves picking up because of the storm was nearly impossible. My hero (John) rowed me to safety, but the camera crew on a different boat was left pretty much to rescue themselves," she laughs. Eventually, everyone did make it to shore safely, but not before being thoroughly drenched. According to Hutchison, the shoot was par for the.course of zany mishaps and accidents when filming. "It's almost like I do these things so I can have crazy stories to tell when I get home," she says. What made it especially funny was that it wasn't the first incident Hutchison has had while taping a Leach segment. A few years ago while she still playing Gabriellel Holden on OLTL, she appeared on Runaway’ss parent show, Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. "We did a weekend in Vermont, and part of it was to film me in a hot-air balloon while Rofloating above a beautiful mountain." Unfortunately for Hutchison, food poisoning struck just as the balloon crested the mountainside. "I won't get graphic about the details, but let's just say that was an experience I won't ever forget," she says. Despite the storm, Hutchison says
the Nantucket shoot was breathtakinging. Before the clouds gathered,
the actors were filmed strolling the shops in historic downtown Nantucket
and romping on the beach. She and Viscardi picknicked on the grounds
of the island’s Great Point Lighthouse and played croquet on the lawn of
the Wauwinet, the county inn where they stayed the weekend. "The
inn was so beautiful," Hutchison says. "At sunset, bunnies came out
of the bushes, nibbled on the rose petals that had fallen from the garden.
Talk about a romantic setting.
