![]() These lovers are drawn together by heat -- the physical desire that ignites unabated lust and passion! When lovers unite, the feelings of raw sexuality surround them and the whole world seems to come to a stop. Their love may not last forever, but when they are together, their passion in combustible!
GARY WARNER: Fiona Hutchison and James DePaiva told a story independently
of when they realized their characters were coming together and they were
going to have this combustible moment. Gabrielle had married Max's
brother Steve because she couldn't have Max. Steve was in a coma
after being hit over the head, and while he was in a coma, Max and Gabrielle
were going to have this love scene. James said to Fiona, "This is our chance."
-- I'm paraphrasing but something to the effect -- He really wanted to
make it work. He personally found a piece of music, a song by Michael
Bolton, after listening to hundreds of songs until he found one that was
just right emotionally. He took the song to the Executive Producer
Paul Rauch, and he liked it. Then, James sat down with Fiona.
James told us, "We choreographed every single second. We played the song
over and over again in the dressing room. We put on our wardrobe
and worked it out so that [Gabrielle's] zipper would come down at exactly
the right moment." Today, a lot of love scenes are done piecemeal
and in the editing room, but James and Fiona wanted to do one virtually
in one take. They wanted it to be real. They were willing to
take it the extra step. They even had the music [played on in the
studio as they did the scene.] Today, many fans don't realize that
the music is added later. One Life To Live even cleared the set for
just essential [crew and production] people only. To this day, it
is one of the most heated love scenes.
